Our Shan Spotlight of June, we spoke with Nang Hla Yee, who is a chairperson of “Nan Htike San” women’s organization, with the belief and mission that every woman has the right to fight for her own desires and aspirations.

“In our community, women have to live under men’s decisions just because they don’t have their own income. Women are being treated discriminately”.
 
My name is Nang Hla Yee. I am the chairperson of “Nan Htike San” women’s organization. I am training women to be self-employed and run their own businesses, empowering them to take on leadership roles in a village in Kyaukme Township.
 
In 2013, “Nan Htike San” women’s organization was founded, with the belief and mission that every woman has the right to fight for her own desires and aspirations.
 
“I am empowering women and conducting training for them to become self-employed and run their own businesses. Since I believe that women have the right to fight for their own desires and aspirations. When we are able to stand up for ourselves, women have potential and abilities”.
